Like the look and feel of your new video player and particularly the larger size and resolution crispness of the actual videos. Also like the treatment of your overlays during 'full screen' mode. A very nice job.

Just a couple of minor suggestions:

Advertisement fly outs – Restore option to close fly outs (as on your old player) on the left of the video during 'Ad play' and maintain display of play lists and navigation options instead

Video thumbnails in play list – restore descriptive summary bubble when hovering over thumbnails as in old player

Change shade or transparency of the thumbnails once they've been played. Will help quickly sort/select through play lists on return visits.

I don't like the way it snaps to the top. I like to watch videos, but most of the time I have them off to one side while I work on another window. right now it snaps over the window I'm working on.

Nice look. Well organized. I'd love to be able to see the titles building in my playlist as I'm building it. But lets get to the key to it all: Please reward me for my patience by making the ads progressively shorter during my view session. If the first ad is 30 seconds, fine. I may only watch 10 seconds of any given clip--I will end my viewing session in less than 90 seconds if I'm facing 30-second ads between each video. Please give me a reason to watch more videos. I like the new look of the video player. The larger picture is nice too. The old player used to freeze and play and freeze and play which made for irritable viewing. This new one is doing the same. I can view videos on other sites with no problem. Great look!

It's kind of funnny that in a high def world, we're still excited by a better version of standard definition. Especially when it comes from a leading broadcaster. That said, of course it's magnitudes better, but it still has a very long way to go. Shoe horning video onto a computer is similar to the problems of transmitting color data with monochrome pictures as we experienced in the 1950s. It may not cause a similar loss of resolution but it certainly isn't there yet either. Still good try NBC!!!

I hate how it takes up so much of the screen. I won't use it if it is going to stay this way. The current player, which I use daily allows you to resize the entire page, which I always do. After I select my playlist I refigure the size of the window using the upside down triangle in the lower right hand corner, so that the window is the size of the actual "viewing screen" This makes the entire page about 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall. This way I can watch at work, while I have other software and pages running. The news doesn't get in my way then. But now, you can't minimize the screen after you select the playlist. This is terrible and annoying

So easy to overlay text on video yet no one does it.

I got the commercial just fine. The video I was hoping to watch never loaded. I waited almost 5 minutes. I tried the other 3 videos that were related to the one I was trying to watch. same thing. Only the commercial played.

When i play a clip through the new player, it will show at first and i'm able to watch it. However, when the first video stops and i want to go onto another video, the next one won't play. I click on it in the play list, and it says "now playing", but it isn't playing and doesn't start to play unless i restart my computer. Any suggestions??

Often times it will not let me click to watch a video.. I have been trying for about an hour to watch Tim Russert on Morning Joe for example, and it says it is "Now Playing" but the video never appears... get that fixed and I will just love the new set-up.. keep it up guys, MSNBC is easily the best video source for television news online, you guys are leaps and bounds ahead of CNN and certainly of Fox News, I appreciate it at work, trust me!

The new set up for videos is very nice looking. But I have three suggestions: 1) Bring back the ability to remove a video from the Playlist. 2) I hate the addition of ads when trying or waiting to watch a news video. I get enough ads when watching TV. Don't nee to see ads before or after seeing a video. The heck with the cat food. He/she can go on a diet. 3) I don't like the fact that the Playlist goes away when ads start to play and I see no way to bring it back when I want. I suggest you make a way for the Playlist to stay out. It's more convenient and is not in the way.

Otherwise, the new look is great. There really wasn't anything wrong with the old way.

Heya. Three remarks:

1/ I have two screens (sometimes three) and when I put MSNBC video to full screen, and switch to another screen to read something, MSNBC reverts to small screen again. Annoying as I usually read the news at the same time (on a different screen of course).

2/ If MSNBC switches to another clip, the focus switches to MSNBC video page (by focus I mean mouse&keyboard focus). Extremely annoying, when I am reading the news on a different screen or typing something (as I am doing now, am watching MSNBC atm and had to switch back to this page several times now)!

3/ Adding clips to your playlist works, but I had a problem where I couldn't get the playlist to actually play :/. Playlist showed about 15 clips, but pressing play had no effect. Don't know if this happens always.

OS: Windows XP/SP2
Browser: IE 7.0.5730.11

On a bright note, overall it looks better than before.

I think people are being a little too demanding.

High Def uses extraordinary amounts of bandwidth and the USA is way behind the rest of the world when it comes to enhanced Internet; like they have in much of Europe and Asia. Ok, yes we do have it better then in Africa and Antarctica. Nobody is streaming in high def, NOBODY! Spammers aren't helping matters either!

That being said, it is better, but back to work!

I'm using it in Seamonkey on XP, which is a lot more success than I've had with the previous players offered here on MSNBC. One thing I came across however is that it doesn't seem to work if the user has used the Flash Settings Manager and disallowed third party sites to store data on the computer. No error messages are displayed, just a blank window pops up. I went into the Flash settings manager and checked the third party data box and then allowed msnbcmedia.msn.com to store some data on the website storage settings tab. After that it worked fine.

Looks great, a vast improvement over the older one! Performance and resolution are wonderful!
A couple comments:
- The captions aren't quite enough. Suggest you provide additional descriptive text when you hover the mouse over a thumbnail
- Volume level on commercials is much higher than the news clips (just like on broadcast TV!). Is that intentional? I don't like it.
- How fresh are these clips? Can you put a time stamp on them to indicate when they were posted or updated?

The new video player works great on the iMac Tiger using Firefox latest version 2.0. The graphic is clear and crisp. The navigation is very easy to use.
However, the broadcast is not the same as seen on the nightly news on TV because the closed captioning is missing. Please update the player to allow an option to view the captioning as shown on the TV broadcast. Thanks and keep up the good work!

These are a few items I hope are remedied in the Beta testing.

Yes you made a lot of handy-dandy ready made play lists in the video redesign. But in the previous video player design, I used to be able to move around the play order of video clips and arrange them in the sequence I want like. It was a feature where you could click and drag the video clips in any position in the queue while the current is playing. Please incorporate that feature again. It is very cumbersome not to have it available.

I agree and endorse the previous statements about running fewer commercials between news stories and not having the play list slide off the screen when the news clip is playing. There is also another annoying problem that occurred with the introduction of your re-design website. The volume of video clip of news stories is so low I need to turn up the volume, but as soon as the commercials are played, the volume is blaringly loud. What a pain constantly raising and lowing the volume every few news clip even with the new volume controls on the video player redesign.

Good picture but really bad implementation. It hogs over 80% of my P4 2.8 Ghz CPU when playing in the default size window (and about 35% of a P4 with hyperthreading). Sombody please tell the programmers to go back and figure out how to write efficient code.

PS: I'm a Computer Science instructor, and I plan to use this as an example of what happens when programmers don't consider CPU efficiency and probably test on quad-core Xeons.

I like the look but it would really be easier to find something with a keyword search. I can't seem to find this feature. I especially like the My Playlist option. I would really be careful with the amount of content in the format. The content can get way too busy and become overwhelming to the basic web user.

Very clean interface! I would add to the comments above to suggest that you add the ability to click on the Nightly News for the day, so that the entire broadcast runs rather than selecting each clip and not knowing if it is from the most recent Nightly News.

This is media player is not perfect for everyone. I want to use closed captions on all media players which it does not meet the requirements or meet the standard with (ADA) American disabilities Act. We have people who have hearing difficulties or are deaf like to watch with closed captions available. Your media player does not provide that, but your television news show does. We have millions of people who use the internet and watch the videos. If I could make a better media player, I would do it.

Considering that I'm an American living outside the US, your service is very important to me. It's hard for me to keep up with the local US news in the areas that are important to me in a foreign country. When your service works, it works well, when it doesn't work, it REALLY doesn't work.

I think speed is the main priority. It comes up fairly fast but I noticed on older computers, while it loads faster than it plays it seems like the sound doesn't match people's lip movements. Also the video doesn't seem as crisp as it used to be.

In addition something that is frustrating is why doesn't MSNBC Link in the videos from MSN?? Why is there no search for videos? Why is it that I can never find videos by Erin Burnett? Or Cramer?

I'm sorry I'm ranting but it just seems like for all the technology you are putting into this you could do so much more.

Where's tagging? Where's my log in screen for my videos to be customized to my needs? Where are the videos from newsweek?

Oh and the "Up Next" screen you get after you finish a clip is annoying. You don't start loading until after that screen. Maybe you can put that some place else so I know what will be up next.

Can we create something where I pick a topic and automatically all videos on that topic appear? Maybe in order of most recent, or imporant rated by users? You rate your articles, why not your videos?

I can only see the titles of about 4 videos at a time on the play list. Maybe you could squeeze one more in there by dropping the icon size?

I guess you really need to ask yourself, if this player / site is just to put reruns of MSNBC TV on the web. If that's the case then fine. But as a user I think of this as a MSNBC "resource". For example you link in articles from Businessweek and other websites. It's like you have a network, so why not apply the same to video player?

You have the potential to become the #1 news video site on the web for the US. The one place everyone goes to get ALL the news.

It was poorly designed. The previous video environemnt would allow us to select any video we want via a large region of thumbnails, at any moment. Your new format makes it much more difficult to do so. You have to keep scrolling down and it is not even possible when commercials appear. Some Usability assessment would clearly give D- to this design. Please go back to the previous one!

Noticed flaw - Videos freeze up. The transition from one video to the other continuously locks up. It freezes up everything - even the buttons. I have to back track, to the previously played video, and then hit the next video again. The picture on the screen freezes, and if it plays the same video over again, it is lighter and fuzzier.

Still loving the layout and features! :O)
Just had a thought - maybe it is the commercials that cause the screen to freeze. I read the complaints here about commercials, but I don't think I have seen any. I am sure that is what is causing it to freeze.

This is another example of how the web is becomming a two tier structure. The two tiers being those that have access to broadband and those who do not. The lastI heard, it was 17% of North Americans do not have any access to broadband. Please don't leave us in the dust. We need someone to figure out how to provide broadband to rural users. We should not be geographically discriminated. I can remember when I was able to receive video over dialup 10 years ago, but not now. The web has become over bloated by lazy code and most content being advertisments.

A very attractive, well-organized player.

That said, like the rest of MSNBC.com, it sadly seems to have been built predominantly for the Microsoft (Internet Explorer). The page fails all validation tests, throws up JavaScript errors and sends browsers into Quirks mode.

A few quick gripes:

I agree with previous posters that something should be done to identify previously-viewed items, captioning should be made available (or transcript via a separate document), browser resizing allowed, and that the advertisements covering the menu are irritating.

Thumbnail scrollbar needs some tweaking. When scrolled completely to the top or bottom, the thumbnails still fly by for another 2-3 seconds (10+ thumbnails). When one scrolls to the bottom of a list, they should be at the bottom of the list.

Overall a vast improvement compared... when to the previous player.

I like the look of the player, and the video resolution is noticeably higher and crisper than google video, youtube, ect. Easy to navigate. Even though a few categories don't have any video in them yet, i'm sure you'll get there eventually.

Will you eventually be able to link directly to a specific clip on sites like digg, stumbleupon, ect.? Linking to the video (even with the # symbol and the video number after) just brings up a blank player. It has the right category selected on the left side, but the video dosen't begin to play.

So for thats my only gripe. Cheers!

Although the new look might be enhanced with more attractive features, it cannot be minimized. I'm use to watching news at work, this player takes up almost the full screen, it looks like I'm only watching the news and not paying attention to work.
The previous player's size was adjustable and I use to put it in the bottom right hand side corner of my screen. If the size cannot be adjusted, i would prefer watching my news at CNN.com. Even though their screen cannot be adjusted as well but the screen size in general is smaller.
I just thought I should give you my feedback since many other regular viewers might fell the same

It's a fairly good player, but there is one thing you MUST change! Sometimes I have to move to a different window while the player is playing. But in this case the player window automatically pops back to be the front window. This happens much more aggresively when a commercial is playing :(

Playlist plays backwards. It should play the clip that you choose first not last. You should allow video browsing and selection while the ads are playing. There should be less ads and commercials. I liked the playlist popping up and hiding at the bottom of the video screen like the last video player that only was up for a short period of time. Audio and video from other clips and commercials will sometimes start playing in the middle of a clip. Other than that it seems to have better download speeds and overall performance along with a smoother format.

The look is great but it's been messing with my windows a heck of a lot. I was typing emails while watching and every few seconds while the video window was open, the cursor focus was taken off of the text-box. When I hit 'backspace' at one point after the cursor focus was taken away, I was brought to the previous page email page and my current email was lost (I'm using squirrel mail on XP, Firefox browser). Definitely still Beta and needs the bugs worked out but it seems like it is on the right track. Great layout and video quality.

Nice, clean, easy to use & navigate, video once again plays in explorer with my security settings-previously I had to use firefox to see vids.

I agree that commercials could be reduced in frequency for longer viewing sesions, maybe a decreasing frequency of commercials for increasing videos selected perhaps? Your advertisers will actually more effectively reach your multiple video viewers by not annoying them.

I also experience the multiple screen difficulty mentioned by T.T. and would like to see more resizing scalability supported as mentioned by Mr. Chrusch. overall, it seems like a great beta effort, my compliments

I really like your new player. One suggestion - the scroll bar scroller should be relative to the length of the list of videos (like every operating system does) This gives users an approximation of how long the video is, but more importantly, is what they expect. With a short scroll bar, I need to drag it along distance to scroll at a moderate speed. The more items there are, the less you will have to move the sider to make the videos scroll at the same speed.

One the upside: Everything looks great as far as the visual format. And it seems it will be a more efficient way to access and play the videos.
Now, the downside: It just won't download and play most videos. It says, "Now Playing," but, of course, nothing is happening. Now, the blog fills me with hope that these problems will soon be resolved--I mean, it's still in beta, right? Also, I submitted a "technical report" describing my problem. Oh, and I can download videos from YouTube and elsewhere on e-mail, so it's probably not me. Anyway, the visual design seems to be a nice improvement, and as soon as I can actually get some videos to play...good luck to us all.

Overall, I like it. Commercials don't seem to show to frequently (a very big turn-off at other sites). The video quality is very good.

One change I would like to see, the ability to click on videos and then let them run. The videos should run in the order selected, with the means to change the order on the fly. Perhaps use a drag and drop interface to move selections around.

Would like to see full episodes streamed, with the ability to see selected segments.

I like the idea of the future of streaming. The problem with regular TV, is that I am unable to watch the shows I like when they normally play. Never been a fan of VCR's or other recorders.

I can see the first linked video, which is very clear, but of the list of videos on the left, none of them will play -- only the first video will play.

Good player. That said, thee minor suggestion that would make a major difference in the viewing experience.

1. After selecting clips for your playlist, the video player plays the list from the last selection to the first. I, for one, would like to see the clips played the other way around, in other words, from first selected clip to last selected clip.

2. In the previous version of the player, I liked the way you could select clips from a large number of thumbnails. In this version, you can only see 4 or 5 thumbnails, and then you have to scroll. This makes making your playlist more tedious and time-consuming.

3. Scrolling up or down the thumbnail selections is kind of weird. Scrolling to the next batch take a couple of seconds, and then the thumbnails take time to settle down from the sliding movement to a still position. Yes, the graphics effect is nice but not very practical. Presenting a large number of thumbnails as suggested above would partially alleviate this problem.

I liked the last version of your media player the best. The clip layout with all of the thumbnails and a brief description was a little easier to navigate. I also liked that I could close out the ad banner when forced to sit through the advertisment clips.

It doesn't work half the time or more. If I click a link on MSNBC home the video page pops up but the video WILL NOT LOAD, it's not even buffering, it just doesn't download. Then when the video page is up, about 50% or more of the videos won't play. The ones that do play work exactly like they should, but the others won't play or buffer or download in any way.

So that makes me wonder, what are you guys putting in some of the video files that's not in others? Is there something that my security software and hardware firewall is stripping out of the stream? Are you using a non-standard port or configuration? Flash is owned by Adobe now, and they have a serious problem with their Macrovision License and usage monitoring (amounts to spyware) software. Are you trying to run that on my computer without my authorization?

So just what is going on here? Are some videos trying to "pull something" and others are not? Or am I only successfully blocking some intrusive code and other parts are getting through and that's when the video plays? Or are you trying to send to ports that would and should normally be blocked?

I've been a faithful user at MSNBC.com for a decade or so. I've always liked the coverage and the flyout menu makes browsing the news a breeze. I'd really like to watch your videos but I can't and I'm not really interested in making my computer systems vulnerable to do so. It could be something else causing this but you gotta admit that it looks fishy when the problem is intermittent. The only thing really that's repeatable is the fact that whatever link FIRST launches the video page will NOT play a video, ever. And that video will not play no matter what I do.

You need to ensure that the video does not play until it if fully loaded, it is fustrating to see a few seconds then a pause then a view more secs of the video.

I know that the problem is not with my computer as I can watch QVC on line with no interuptions of the stream being viewed.

When are you going to broad cast live TV shows?
It would be great to get back to the time when Television was Free like it was in the late 50's and early 60's

All clips are played in reverse order. I would think most would want to see the older news first. When setting up playlists it is also plays in this reverse order. I click the clips in the order I want to watch them but it plays the reverse of that. Very frustrating - at least give an option. Also the advertisements are too many and too loud compared to the clips.

Love the new layout!I'm good with the 'Pictel' type images. Hate the ads! Their audio runs over the video I'm trying to watch. If I click pause to let the ad finish, then the video switches to tne next video in line rather letting me finish the one I was on and I have to start the whole process over. I am a big fan of MSNBC's videos and watch them often. however, something new--and very annoying--is happening on the Beta version....
1) loud audio from advertisements at the bottom of the screen now blare out every 5-6 seconds, interrupting the ongoing videos and making them nearly impossible to hear. this is a million times more annoying and invasive than pop-ups, and will make me avoid both the advertisers and the MSNBC video site.
2) while a video is in the midst of being played, the site will switch over to a new video on the playlist randomly, before the current video is done being played.
I really hope these glitches get fixed since your video site is among the best on the internet, in my opinion. Dani

Well, after reading through the previous comments, mine will come as no surprise:

Love the quality and slickness of the new video player, but what's up with the reduction of playlist and video clip selection functionality?

Scrolling through a few thumbnails at a time is a step way back from the previous player's expansive layout of selectable clips.

Also, as has been noted over and over, the playlist has got to be fixed to play clips in the order they are selected, not in reverse order. I can't believe this was a deliberate change, however, and assume y'all are working on this already.

Likewise, the sooner we users are given back the ability to remove clips from the playlist, the better.

And I hope that, in addition to the the clip removal functionality, y'all will also give us the ability to dynamically re-order our playlist and (here's what I would really love) to save a playlist, close the player, then relaunch it and retrieve the playlist later on.

I'm glad that returning the search feature was named in your original blog post as the top of your to-do list, and won't go on about how crippling its absence is.

In short... give us back the functions from the old player before rolling out any of the new stuff, please! Fix our playlist! Let us search!

Y'all already know that no other news site comes close to MSNBC, so I'm glad that you're committed to keeping your site fresh and functional, even without being pushed into it by fancier, easier-to-use sites (cuz there ain't any... ever tried to use the ABC news video viewer? it will make you hate George Stephanopolous all over again).

So kudos for innovating because you want to give viewers a better experience. I do miss the old video player and am currently watching noticeably less video since the beta player has rolled out. I'm patient, though, and look forward to your perfected post-beta release. Just please try to work out the bugs before election year passes you by!

For those using Mac's the video player does work. You have to have "Flip4Mac" installed. This replaces Windows Media player which is not supported anymore for Mac's. Flip4Mac is a plugin that allows you to view most WMP type video.

Congratulations on your incredible new video player. As close to perfection as one can get. Makes the other players pale by comparison.

I am on a Mac and it works perfectly in Firefox. It is fast loading and looks great. In fact the "NBC Look" looks terrific on everything NBC related. NBC has THE BEST graphics, the best audio, and the best look of ALL the networks.

I love your new player because it is set against black which makes everything look better, and even better it is wide screen when warranted without squishing the image like CNN does. I also like the ability to embed it in my blog (which I have done, and it looks and works great there too.

The clarity of the picture and sound are close to perfection, even when I blow it up to full frame on a 24" display!

Yes, I agree that the commercials run too often. I would suggest every third item. Also, a suggestion to the advertisers... limit your ads to 15 seconds or less. I mute the audio if any are longer than 15 seconds.

NBC is the best on the net. I subscribe to your shows on iTunes too. Congratulations and thank goodness you dropped Windows Media Player. Your new player is the best of the best.

Very well done. Things I'd like to see:
- more buffering to avoid lengthy pauses.
- drag'n'drop re-ordering of clips
- using a probability engine like NetFlix, the system should "learn" which clips I want. So add a "recommendations" section, which is based on people similar to me.
- I understand the need for ads. However, let me set up a profile, so that you can better target ads that I might be interested in.
- set up the ability for "Season Pass" for those shows that you allow complete download for. Or a Season Pass for Olberman's Worse Person.
- once I set up a Playlist, let me start the buffering ... even buffering the next few clips. If my DSL is a bit slow, then I can go out and come back to find everything "delivered".
- enable the option to push clips to me. Once the system has really smart suggestions and season passes for me, you pretty much ought to know what I want and can pre-push to me before I even get to work.
- allow me to set up clips and deliver to another system, like Amazon Unbox.

This is a vast improvement over the change made several months ago where full screen playback was removed and playback was contained within the browser. The new look, feel and ablitity to do full screen playback is major plus over the default player that you decided to hoseup and still have in use on the main video page.

If you are having problems, please first make sure you are using the most recent version of Flash (even if you have Flash 9, there are newer updates that fix certain bugs) which you can download for free here:

Also, you may need to restart your computer for things to install completely. (We know that in Safari, specifically, that after you upgrade Flash it will behave as if it's not installed at all, and restarting has fixed the problem in many cases.)

I'm about to click on something in the menu after getting 3/4 the way through a story (I've decided I don't want to see the rest)..I'm forced to see another commercial. Any purposeful or proactive interference with user choice is just a huge no-no on the internet. Your service doesn't have any competitive edge that allows for that. You can have us watch the ads, but keep the menu there so we can watch another video after the forced ad in case we changed our mind, are in a rush, or whatever.

Very hit and miss. There are days that it will work, albeit slowly, and days that videos simply do not load. At first I thought that flash had something to do with it but many of your competitors use it and I experience no problems or slowdowns whatsoever. With a couple of exceptions I can't get the videos to load. For the couple that I was able to load I wasn't able to go back to a previous video (there's only a forward option). Also, I'm not able to select from the playlist while a video is going - I have to watch the the whole video - I can't escape! Full screen is kind of cool but not exceptionally sharp - it hurts my eyes to watch. I feel I'm missing news by not being able to watch some videos; I think you should have an option to allow customers to use the prior version (opt out of the beta test) until you fix all the issues.

I really like the new video player. It's just the right size for a notebook computer. Don't go back to the old player--because it's an old player. Keep up the improvements to the new player.

Like the ease of use; quick load; how about a button to refresh the screen? Video looks smooth, clean, detailed. PLEASE NO ADs!!! I will not use this feature if I have to watch a commercial, much less purchase a product that is advertised in such an intrusive manner. Overall, great job!

I miss videos from here. ;)

I am also having problems playing videos I click on. Once in a blue-moon, the peacock logo appears and I can watch a video, but most of the time it does not play.

I've noticed others are seeing 30 second commercials. I have not seen any commercials when the video does play. I have seen three videos so far. The most recent one that was able to play was the boy that caught the large fish.

I am using the firefox browser & all my programs, drivers & everything have their most current update(s).

I also Like the new video interface and the darker background.

Thank you for a cool video player. Hope the bugs get worked out soon.

I agree with the foregoing congratulatory comments. It is now easier than ever to watch what I missed on TV, and the viewing experience is enhanced. But, best of all, you finally got the commercials' audio volume to match that of the program. It used to annoy the heck out of me that a segment would end, and the ad would blast me out of my chair.

I don't mind the commercials, but why do they all have to be at a higher volume? I'm constantly adjusting the volume because of this problem.

I am a road warrior. Laptop, wireless data card, reasonable bandwidth. This new player does not load & play videos reliably. it DOES appear to play commercials well. In todays session I did get some requested video, unfortunately, its audio played sporadically with a commercials' audio interleaved. I do want to encourage you to make an improved product, but this version feels Pre-Beta... Please allow us to choose to use the old player until this one becomes the Viewers choice by selection. Meanwhile, I'll sadly miss your content & subject myself to the other less frustrating players out there.

Just like the old version, too many ads. Watch 1 or 2 news clips, watch an ad and the cycle begins again. What's worse, we're forced to watch same ad again and again. When I'm on a lunch break, I don't have time to watch all these ads which is more than is shown on any one TV segment. One reason I use this site sparingly. Easier to just "read" the news.

New, blue, different, better? Mostly just diferent and we are forced to hunt through how to use the new player.

The thing that is going to drive me awy is having control of my computer taken away while an absurd number of commercials are dispalyed on the screen.

Righ now, I have two windows up and flip between them.

To much of this and I'll find news somewhere else.

Dear MSNBC --

While I like the new webcast format, but I DEFINITELY MISS being able see the first hour of the Today show on the same day it airs.

I used to be able to see the first hour of Wednesday's Today show after 11:00 a.m. that same day -- Wednesday.

Now it's Wednesday and I can only find the previous day's webcast -- Tuesday's-- which is not nearly so useful!

Because of my morning commute, I can't watch the Today show on TV Monday-Friday.

Therefore, I used to watch the Today webcast on my lunch hour to get the news. It was fine to get the news when it was just 5 hours old -- but unacceptable when it's 29 hours old. Please see what you can do to fix this, OK? Thanks.

The video player has a fresh new look - I like it!

Two requests/ideas: 1. When you add a clip to the playlist, it adds the clip to the top of the My Playlist. It would be great if it was added to the bottom so that you could select videos in order. 2. I don't mind the ads between the videos (hey, you have to make money), I don't mind the little ads under the video, but please do not place any ads in the viewing area while a video is playing, even if its in the corner (such as the current War commercial).

I look forward to many hours on your site!

My player spontaneously starts a vid clip when I am browsing by theme. If I click on a scroll arrow to see more titles and thumbnails to the left of the player's video box, a clip will start that is not even in the category I am browsing. I also clicked on a thumbnail and got a different clip- Heath Ledger story got me a Hillary clip... dang.

Otherwise it looks great and there is a seamless shift in screen size even after a clip has started (nice!) image quality is excellent.

This is real nice but if this is MS (Microsoft) NBC venture, then why is this not being developed in Silverlight?
